Sierra Nevada Craft Pairing
October 25, 2012
Pale Ale – “Our most popular beer, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, is a delightful interpretation of a classic style. It has a deep amber color and an exceptionally full-bodied, complex character. Generous quantities of premium Cascade hops give the Pale Ale its fragrant bouquet and spicy flavor. “
Paired with Kerrygold Dubliner Irish Cheddar, Maytag Bleu and Smoked Gouda cheeses.
Ovila Dubbel – “Clear and deep copper in color, this Abbey Dubbel has a complex and rich malty sweetness with hints of caramelized sugar. The aroma is a heady and layered mix of fruit and spice with hints of clove, raisin, and black pepper from the use of an abbey-style yeast.”
Paired with an open faced lamb slider on toasted artisan bread, caramelized dates and a roasted garlic and mint aioli.
Life and Limb – “Life & Limb is a 2011 collaboration between Sierra Nevada and Dogfish Head. The beer is dark mahogany-brown in color with massive aromas reminiscent of rich roasted malts, with heady notes of vanilla and toasted coconut from the oak. Round and early flavors dominate this full-bodied beer, with hints of maple, toasted pecan, and raisin.”
Paired with a cedar plank roasted salmon and ale & bacon braised Brussels sprouts.
Estate Homegrown Ale – “One of the few estate-made ales produced anywhere in the world! This Estate Ale is rich with the flavors of the valley—featuring hops with earthy, grapefruit-like flavors and layered spicy aromas and barley with mild sweetness and smooth, toasted flavors.”
Paired with a hot pepper shrimp fried rice in mini wonton bowls.
Narwhal Imperial Stout – “Inspired by the mysterious creature that dwells in the deepest Arctic seas, Narwhal Imperial Stout is midnight black and bold–with notes of baker’s cocoa and dark roasted coffee. This massive imperial stout is incredibly complex and explores the darkest depths of malt flavor.”
Paired with house made Narwhal ice cream floating in a glass of Narwhal Imperial Stout garnished with chocolate biscotti.
